no no no no.
I'm a casual player and the only reason I play is for gvg.
The game is not too long and the play is not too wide.
If you want a small place and a shorted fight go to ha.
This is why ha is not interesting.
GvG has many goals going on and many tactical decisions going on. It may be a draw cause the guilds are of equal skills, but it is by no means boring.
Also if youre at a standstill during the fight, try to alter the fight to your advantage, tip the scale and whole hell happens. Please dont change it to be simpler or "easyer" cause you will kill the only thing you have to think of in the whole gaming world. Yes, it is not just GW, it is where the gaming world is going to. Are we going to be left with diesny kind of games, which are good, profesional and interesting, but only if your 12 years or younger, or are we going to have some games that mature ppl can participate and enjoy.

You have to realize that there are two kinds of people here. The people playing it and the people watching it. For any game to be a success as tournament it needs to be fun for both. I do agree that a gvg between two guilds of equal skill (and nobody winning the build war) is fun to be in. However, it is boring as hell to watch. So what GW needs in my opinion is something that makes it fun to watch, while still fun to play. I don't see a way to do that with gvg, so I suggested the faster TA instead.

watching gvg is as fun as watch a football (eu football not american) match. This spells B O R I N G.
Unless you're a fan of one of the groups or you're a professional who see what goes behind.
I dont think any one of the 95%-99% who do not gvg is actually watching those games. I also dont think that anyone who does not play the game at all would enjoy watching it.
You're truely aiming high if you think that ppl will watch this kind of tournaments like they come to watch sports.
We're a long way from there. But you have here an interesting idea.
Maybe anet will add a comentary broadcast of the top tournament matches. I suggest taking the some guys from eurosports for that.
This may add interest.

Not aiming THAT high. And besides, many people are watching football, most of them never played football on any serious level. What I want is getting GW where it should have been. Between the current e-sports. So that means getting it to the level of Counter-Strike, Quake 3 and 4, Warcraft, Project Gotham Racing 3, Need for Speed: Most Wanted, FIFA 2007 and Halo 2. Is that aiming too high? Maybe, maybe not.

PS, there are some matches broadcasted at http://link.brightcove.com/services/...bcpid716696095

A-Net really need to work hard and develop the PvP side of GW for it to get anywhere near as close the likes of Counterstrike in popularity. From what I have seen so far, they aren't working that hard at all development-wise as they are still struggling to balance the game.

Maybe with no new professions in the next chapter, the development team can actually work on improving the pvp experience for us all and just maybe make GW the game it says it is on the box.

btw football is far from boring to watch. You have no taste :P

I ussually have no problem getting into pugs, albeit I rarely do because pugs suck.

For referance This Is the Ad I use:

RX/Glad X LFG. Can Play ANY Ranger, Assassin, Mesmer, Ele , Necro, or ritualist build. Pm what you want. Vent/TS req. serious teams only

( X = whatever rank I happen to be at the time. I give BOTH my gladiator rank + Hall Ranks. )

I also only Do HA pugs when I have at least 10k faction on hand, so that way I actually can run any of those ( as opposed to the idiots who claim they can run any build, and when you give em a bar they suddenly say "wait I dont have that skill waaaah let me run something else" )

For the sake of us who actually CAN run anything, Please dont advertise that you can run anything unless you either have everything unlocked, or have means to unlock it at a moments notice.

That is because casual players have never heard about GWPickup and will probably never hear about it either. It is a great thing, just not helping too much until Anet starts directing people to it ingame.

I don't believe PvP is dying for casual players. I'm a experienced player, not the most experienced in any type of PvP, but know the game very well all around. I just got my Rank 3 in the past week, so, IMO, it's not dying.

Casual and fast PvP play:

-Random arena
-Team arena
-Alliance battle
-Fort Aspenwood
-Heroes battle

With 5 different type of casual pvp modes, I don't really understand what is the problem here. Adding more will only dilute the number of players playing in each. Your thread sounds more like a big whine from a "casual" player who is frustrated at not being able to access more serious PvP modes such as HA and GvG. Joining a guild that occasionally GvG might be a good start. Refusing to join a guild because of "casual" reasons is pretty meh since the name of the game is "guild wars" after all...

And it is really fun to see that of all mmorpgs, WoW is the first to try to make a serious effort to become THE eSport in its category. For more info, see this link: http://www.ampedesports.com/news/331...WoW-an-eSport/

One of the more interesting parts is the point I tried to make a couple of posts earlier:
Quote:
Many may have an opinion as to why 3v3 over 5v5, but I think it will be best for viewing. 5v5 is no doubt very exciting for the players, but try following the 10 players in combat and keep track of what’s going on. I believe that 3v3 is just as exciting for the players and will be equally exciting for the viewer to watch and follow.
